The dress code includes the following and must be worn for all matches. Long Sleeve buttoned shirt, buttoned at the wrist, a waistcoat, dress pants and dress shoes. (a bow tie is optional)
The following items will not be allowed to be worn during play. Hats, jeans, shorts, sweatpants, short sleeve shirts, sneakers, sandals and other open toe shoes.
In all cases the tournament director retains the right to refuse any player who wears attire which could be considered inappropriate in any way, thereby disrupting the competition or portraying a damaging image to the best standards and interests of Snooker Canada.
Failure to comply with the dress code may result in forfeiture of the match in which the player is involved.
The format of the tournament is double elimination with al matches to be best 2/3, except the Finals (3/5).
The draw for the tournament is an open draw with no seeding, which means anybody can play anybody.
All players will be allowed a period of 5 minutes before their match for practice.
RULES of the game
This tournament shall be played under the conditions approved by Snooker Canada and under the rules of the game as published by World Snooker. (www.worldsnooker.com)
The miss rule
While the “foul and a miss” rule has unlimited put backs in the professional game, the policy for Snooker Canada events is to have a maximum of 3 put backs. This means that if a player misses the intended ball completely, the cue ball can be put back to its original spot for a maximum of 3 times.
Snooker Canada is not responsible for any form of damages to players, delegates, referees or guests before, during and after any Snooker Canada event for any reason whatsoever.
Any player not in attendance at the designated start time will lose one (1) Frame when the match commences.
If a player is not in attendance 15 minutes after the designated start time, the team will lose another frame. If a player is not in attendance 30 minutes after the designated start time, the team will lose the match automatically.
If both players are in default of being absent after the aforesaid grace period of 30 minutes, both players will be forfeited, and the match deemed to be a walkover against both players and no re-scheduled matches will occur.
The match tables, venue and equipment shall conform to requirements as laid down by Snooker Canada, and shall be checked and certified by the tournament director before the start of the tournament.
NO MOBILE PHONES, TWO WAY RADIOS or BLEEPERS will be allowed inside the match venue.
Code of Conduct
Snooker Canada is making every effort to raise the standard of the game in order for it to be respected by the players, spectators, and sponsors.
As such, any conduct that represents the game in a negative manner will not be tolerated. Our zero-tolerance policy means that the tournament organizer will have the discretion to expel any player from the tournament that insists on ignoring these policies.
