Graeme Dott, the 2006 World Champion, made it into the final qualifying round with a dramatic 10-8 victory over Noppon Saengkham.

Dott built an 8-2 lead with a top break of 121 before Thailand’s Saengkham reeled off five frames in a row with runs of 134, 75, 98 and 88. After sharing the next two frames, Glasgow’s Dott closed out victory in the next. He will now face Mike Dunn or Li Hang for a place at the Crucible.

Nigel Bond, the 1995 Crucible runner-up, beat Gary Wilson 10-6 and will now meet Ding Junhui or Ross Muir.

Norway’s Kurt Maflin came from 6-2 down to beat Chinese amateur Zhao Xintong 10-8 with a top break of 110.

Anthony Hamilton

Veteran Anthony Hamilton scored a tense 10-9 victory over Chris Wakelin. Hamilton trailed 4-0 and 9-6 but won the last four frames with top breaks of 78, 99 and 69.

Jimmy Robertson made three centuries in a 10-5 win over Stuart Carrington while Ian Burns ended the challenge of Pakistan’s Hamza Akbar with a 10-3 success.

Robert Millkins came from 3-0 down to beat Scott Donaldson 10-8 with a top run of 112, while Michael Holt overcame a 7-6 deficit to beat Peter Lines 10-7.

Two-time Crucible semi-finalist Alan McManus saw off David Morris 10-6 while Robbie Williams beat Mark Joyce 10-4.
