Canada Welcomes a New Face to the Pro Snooker Tour
For the first time since Alain Robidoux graced the global stage, Canada has a new professional snooker player to cheer for. Sahil, a rising talent from our shores, officially made his debut on the World Snooker Tour this week. Although he did not come away with a win, he impressed by taking a couple of well-earned frames against none other than Mathew Stevens — a seasoned Welsh competitor and former World Championship finalist.
Sahil’s debut marks an important moment for Canadian snooker, and while this first step on the professional circuit was a tough one, it’s just the beginning of what we hope will be a promising journey. Competing against someone of Stevens’ caliber is no easy feat, and to hold his own in that environment is an early sign of Sahil’s potential. We at Snooker Canada are proud to see another homegrown player on the world stage and we wish him the very best over the next two years on the pro tour.
This is not only a moment of pride but also an opportunity for the Canadian snooker community to rally around one of its own. We invite fans and supporters to send words of encouragement that we can pass along to Sahil as he continues to navigate the challenges of the international tour. A few kind messages can go a long way when you’re far from home, facing the pressures of elite competition.
Snooker Canada will also be following Sahil’s journey closely. We will aim to check in with him from time to time and share his experiences, insights, and stories with our readers. This is a shared adventure — one that belongs not just to Sahil, but to every aspiring snooker player and fan in Canada. Let’s show him that an entire country is behind him.
