Head Referee for Snooker Canada Announced

After years of searching, we are ecstatic to announce that we have finally found someone to fill this prestigious and important position.

Tyler Choutka, from British Columbia, is now the official head referee for Snooker Canada, and we could not be more excited about this.

“It is not easy to find someone who is aligned with the mission and values of our organization”  says Snooker Canada President, Patrick Guigui.  “Tyler has proved over and over again that he is ready and willing to help grow the game here in Canada.  He is not too concerned about the title of “head referee”, but more focused on the development of our sport.   We look forward to cultivating this underrated aspect of the game for many years to come”.

A thumbs up was even given by  Michaela Tabb from Scotland, who came over a few weeks ago to help train  over 30 referees across the country.

Beginning with his passion for playing pool as a youth, Tyler became interested in snooker as an adult and enjoys all aspects of the game from playing to refereeing. With a career as a fire protection technician, his eye for detail and adherence to rules and regulations translates well to officiating snooker matches. Tyler would love to see the game of snooker become big again in Canada one day.
