In a tournament that saw 52 players competing, and with a waiting list to boot, snooker in BC is going in the right direction.

It looked like it wasn’t going to be this way as the defending champion was in tough with his quarterfinalist opponent John Robertson.  Robertson who was up 2-1 in the best of 5 match was looking poised to knock out the champ, but Kenny found some of that snooker mojo that we know he possesses and crawled back in this match to achieve victory.  From there it was no turning back as he defeated the young Alvin Chan 3-1 in the semi finals.

Mehran Maneshgar, Kenny’s finalist opponent, had a bumpy road in the quarters as well.  He had a quick 2-0 lead on Charlie Brown, but Brown battled back to force a decider and unfortunately wasn’t able to complete the comeback as Maneshgar took the final frame.  Maneshgar dispatched his semifinalist opponent Albert Lam rather easily with a 3-0 victory.

It set up a final with a player who had been there before and a player that was on foreign land in such a big tournament.  Kenny was in good, but not great form, and his opponent Maneshgar was struggling to find some form.  Was it the first final jitters for Mehran, could be.  As well he mentioned after the match he was feeling 100%.  Kenny, who was unaware of this, still jumped at every occasion he had and took a 4-0 win to achieve back to back BC Open Snooker Championship!!  Well done Albert Kenny and to all the players that came out and gave it their best!!

Upcoming Events

We will be having a qualifying tournament for the Seattle Snooker Open.  The dates for that event are looking to be on Apr. 20-21, 2024.  Registration is open and the details of this event will be sent out soon in an email.

The Seattle Snooker Open is planned for June 22-24, 2024.  Head over to www.oxbilliards.com to see how you can get into this event if you don’t want to play in the qualifier.

In addition, while you are on OX billiards’ website, take a look at the link for the newly announced USSA National Tour.  I believe these events are open to any player north or south of the border, but it is always good to check out the website to make sure.

That’s it for now.  Lots of great Snooker action coming down the pipe.  Let’s keep the momentum going!!
