John Robertson books his spot in the BC Open!!
Another great qualifier is in the books. Robertson got his tournament started a little later as with the 7 tables he was in the one later match. That didn’t seem to affect John as he took the BC open spot by defeating Mehran Maneshgar 3-1 in the final. Maneshgar might have been a bit fatigued as he came out of a dramatic semifinal against John Kocela where he won 3-2. Whereas Robertson defeated Stephen Folan 3-1 in the other semifinal. There was a lot of great action on tables all day long and great to see the players’ abilities are improving.
Big thanks to Jonathan Sun and the crew at Top 147 that helped us have a great tournament. In addition, much gratitude to Rob Johnson and the crew at AAA Photography with creating the poster to get the word out to everyone about the tournament. Thanks to Sam Tonning for his help behind the scenes. Thanks to Stephen Folan for buying David Burney’s lunch, much appreciated!!! Thanks to all the players that showed up and gave it their best.
One point to bring up is etiquette when in a match. It can be tough at times as in sports sometimes, etiquette is never written out and it is a learned thing. I feel we should instruct our fellow competitors if they are not complying. Let’s all work together to grow this community and make it respectful. However in the rules of Snooker, the following is in the pages of the rule book.
Section 4.5
The non-striker shall, when the striker is playing, avoid standing or moving in the line of sight of the striker. They shall sit or stand at a reasonable distance from the table and avoid making any movement or action that may interrupt the concentration of the striker.
