Snooker Sizzling in Calgary
Congratulations to Jesse Nowak for winning the winter session of the Calgary Snooker League.
After finishing 2nd in his division, Jesse breezed through the playoffs and then defeated last year’s winter session champion, Darcy Fulton, by a score of 4-0 in the best of 7 final. The match was well played but dominated by Jesse as he was able to string together some modest runs while Darcy struggled to find his rhythm.
In the Consolation Championship, John Ditto beat Taj Gulam 3-1 in an entertaining match where both players showed off some excellent shot-making.
The annual Calgary Snooker League Tournament was played on April 26th at Haidary Snooker Academy in Calgary.
Darcy Fulton repeated his victory from last year to become just the second 2-time winner since the tournament started in 2011. In the round robin portion Darcy finished in first place and then waited for the winner of the semifinal match between Ramin Haidary and Jesse Nowak.
The semifinal was an entertaining and very close match with Jesse finally prevailing after an intense safety battle on the colours.
The final was taken by Darcy by a score of 3-1. Both players played well and teased with the possibility of high runs but Darcy managed to maintain the pressure on Jesse and avenge his loss in the league winter session.
Thanks go out to Ramin Haidary for providing his excellent facility for our use.
